Integrasi Nilai-nilai Moderasi Beragama dalam PAI Berbasis Multikultural di Indonesia

The increasing phenomenon of intolerance and religious polarization in Indonesia calls for a stronger implementation of religious moderation within the educational system. Islamic Religious Education (PAI), which should serve as a vehicle for cultivating moderate and tolerant character, often remains bound to normative and doctrinal teaching approaches that overlook social and humanitarian aspects. This conceptual study analyzes the relationship between religious moderation and multicultural education and proposes an integrative model suitable for the Indonesian Islamic education context. Employing a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach, this study explores classical and contemporary literature. Findings reveal that the core values of religious moderation—justice, balance, tolerance, and national commitment—strongly correlate with multicultural principles such as equality, inclusion, and social justice. Integrating these frameworks produces an Islamic Religious Education paradigm that is theological yet humanistic, reflective, and contextually relevant. Thus, Islamic education based on religious moderation and multiculturalism plays a strategic role in shaping a just, tolerant, and diversity-conscious Muslim generation
